Immersive sound refers to new “3D” surround sound formats which include up to 22 speakers at different heights – for example, in the ceiling – to provide an even more immersive enveloping surround sound experience. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro 3D, Ambisonics and binaural technology are the known immersive formats.
